For grounds, tree and play-area firms

Council contracts near you. Spotted for you.

Parish, town and district councils put grounds, tree and play-area work out to tender every week. Most small firms never hear about it. Put in your postcode and see what's open near you right now.

Free, no sign-up to look. Your postcode stays in your browser. 80+ open contracts across England as of this week.

How it works

We read every public contract notice in England (Find a Tender and Contracts Finder) so you don't have to. Then we keep only the ones for your trade and your area.

1

Tell us where you work

Your base, how far you'll drive (by drive time, not miles) and the trades you do. Change any of it whenever you like.

2

We spot the work

Each morning we check both government sites and keep only the new grounds, landscaping, tree and play-area contracts near you. Plus business and developer schemes that will need landscaping.

3

You get a straight answer

A plain-English verdict on each one, with why it could suit you and the one thing most likely to catch you out. One short email a day, and only when there's something new.

What a verdict looks like

A real contract from October 2026.

Worth a look3 lots

Grounds maintenance

Cottenham Parish Council, Cambridgeshire
£54k excl. VAT, over 1 to 3 yearsCloses Mon 16 Nov, 12 noonabout 47 min from Letchworth

Village grounds maintenance in three lots: the recreation ground (£37k), grass cutting (£9.5k) and village maintenance (£7.5k).

Why it could suit you: a sensible size for a small firm. You can bid for just one lot, the two smaller ones suit even a very small business, and every lot is marked suitable for small businesses.
Watch out for: the recreation ground lot includes football and cricket pitches, so they'll want sports-turf experience.

Open to any firm, in one stage.

What you get that a free search doesn't

Contracts Finder and Find a Tender are free, and we use their public notices. Here is what we add, and the hours it saves you.

Only work you could actually win

Your trades, your drive time, and a verdict on whether a firm your size has a chance.

Instead of thousands of notices a month, most of them nothing to do with you, with work in one village tagged "all of England".

One short email a day

Every new contract near you from both government sites, with no duplicates, only when there's something new.

Instead of two websites, searched separately, every day.

The catch, spotted for you

The thing most likely to trip up a small firm: a site visit you must book, a software licence you need, paper-only bids, a short deadline.

Instead of reading a long notice to find out it was never for you.

Approved lists worth joining

When a council only buys from a list, we tell you which one, and whether you can still join.

Instead of finding out after the deadline that you needed to be on it.

Questions

Isn't this all free on Contracts Finder?

The notices are, yes, and we use them. What you pay for is the time. We find, filter and read them for you every day, and tell you which are worth your attention. Most small firms don't have the hours to do that themselves.

Are you connected to the council?

No. Workspotted is an independent service. Every contract we show is published openly by the buyer on Find a Tender or Contracts Finder. We find them, sort them and tell you which are worth a look.

Which trades do you cover?

Right now: grounds maintenance, landscaping, tree work and play areas. Building repairs and roofing, and heating and ventilation, are coming next.

How are the verdicts made?

An AI reads each notice using rules set by procurement and bid management best practice: contract size against firm size, lots, how the contract is bought, and the catches that trip small firms up (staff transfers, required software, short deadlines). It quotes the notice for every point it makes. It's an opinion to help you decide what to read, not advice, so always read the full notice before you bid.

What's an "approved list" or "framework"?

Some councils only buy from firms already on a list. A framework is a list you join for a few years, and you can usually only get on it when it opens. A dynamic purchasing system (DPS) is a list you can apply to join at any time. We tell you which is which, and when a list is worth joining.

Do you send me private homeowners' details?

No. We only show public contracts and business or developer planning schemes, such as a new estate that needs its landscaping done. Never private homes.

How accurate are the drive times?

They're estimates from the distance as the crow flies, usually within about 10 minutes of a real no-traffic drive. Use them to judge your area, not to plan a route.

Can I cancel?

Any time, in two clicks. You'll drop back to the free Monday email unless you unsubscribe from that too.
