Who we are

Workspotted is run by Tom Millson, a sole trader based in Hertfordshire, England ("we"). We're registered with the Information Commissioner's Office: [registration number]. Contact: hello@workspotted.co.uk.

What we collect, and why

• Your email address, name and business name, so we can send the emails you asked for. Lawful basis: contract (for members) or your consent (for the free email).
• Your settings: your base postcode, how far you'll travel, your trades and how often you want alerts. These choose what we send you. Lawful basis: contract or consent.
• Payment details: handled by Stripe, our payment provider. We never see or store your card number. We keep a record of what you paid, for tax. Lawful basis: contract and legal obligation.
• Email activity: whether emails are opened and which links are clicked, so we can tell what's useful and fix what isn't. Lawful basis: legitimate interests. You can turn this off by blocking images in your email app.

The postcode checker on our home page runs in your browser. The postcode you type isn't sent to us or anyone else.

What we don't do

• We never sell or share your details for anyone else's marketing.
• We don't show or pass on private homeowners' details. The planning schemes we show are business and developer applications only.

Who else handles your data

We use a small number of providers to run the service: [email sending service], Stripe (payments), [hosting provider] and Anthropic (the AI that writes verdicts reads only public contract notices and public planning-register descriptions of business and development sites, never your details). Each acts on our instructions under a data processing agreement. Some may store data outside the UK, under approved safeguards.

How long we keep it

For as long as you have an account, plus up to 12 months afterwards in case you come back. Payment records are kept for 6 years, for tax. Ask us and we'll delete your account sooner.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, delete or move your data, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@workspotted.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).

Contract data

The contract notices we show are published by public bodies on Find a Tender and Contracts Finder, under the Open Government Licence v3.0. We remove named individuals' contact details from them before storing anything.
